I am, ete, to invite attention to the

letter from the Home Office, No.506271

of the 28th of July, and to request

that the Secretary of State ay now

be furnished with Secretary Sir Austen

Chamberlain's observations on the

proposed replies.

The first two suggestions made

in the Home Office letter would appear

to be unobjectionable and it is

proposed, subject to Sir Austen

Chamberlain's concurrence, to amend the

draft replies accordingly. The

third suggestion, however, raises
